Situation: An active front moves across the area from the west later today. A complex trough moves onto the country during Saturday, affecting the upper North Island through to Monday.

Forecast: Strong wind advisory. Thursday: Northwest 25 knots gusting 35 knots, easing to 20 knots this afternoon and to 15 knots this evening. Rough sea easing this afternoon. Occasional showers, turning to rain with poor visibility towards evening. Friday: Northwest 15 knots, rising to northerly 20 knots in the afternoon then tending northwest 20 knots in the evening. Sea becoming moderate in the afternoon. Poor visibility in rain at times, easing in the evening.

Outlook: Outlook until midnight Monday: Saturday: Northwest rising to 25 knots morning. Showers. Sunday: Northwest easing to 15 knots early, dying out late. Cloudy periods, odd shower. Monday: Westerly 10 knots. Few showers.

Swell: Swell forecast to midnight Monday: Northeast half a metre rising to 1 metre today, and to northerly 1.5 metres Saturday, then easing to 1 metre Sunday.
