Situation: A cold front moves off the North Island to the east today and a disturbed southwest flow covers the country. The southwesterlies ease on Thursday, and a ridge of high pressure moves onto the country on Friday.

Forecast: Strong wind advisory. Monday: Southwest 20 knots, easing to 15 knots south of Cape Brett this evening. Moderate sea, easing south of Cape Brett this evening.Poor visibility in a few showers this evening. Tuesday: Southwest 20 knots but 15 knots south of Cape Brett, rising to westerly 30 knots gusting 40 knots but 25 knots gusting 35 knots in the south early afternoon, and becoming southwest 25 knots gusting 35 knots everywhere early evening. Sea becoming rough early afternoon. Poor visibility in showers and possible thunderstorms in the afternoon and early evening.
