The frontal system then moves onto the North Island Saturday night and slowly moves east across the North Island Sunday and Monday. Another front approaches the Far South later Monday.

Forecast: Friday: Southeast 15 knots. Sea slight. Often cloudy, with fair visibility in showers. Saturday: Southeast 15 knots, easing to easterly 10 knots in the morning, and to variable 5 knots in the afternoon. Sea slight. Often cloudy, with fair visibility in showers.

Outlook: Outlook until midnight Tuesday: Sunday: Northerly 10 knots developing in the morning, rising to 15 knots in the afternoon. A shower or two, then rain overnight. Monday: Changing northwest 15 knots early. Early rain to showers. Tuesday: Southwest 15 knots. Showers, becoming isolated in the morning.
