Situation: A series of weak troughs affect the country over the next few days, along with a front moving north over the South Island on Friday and North Island on Saturday. A significant low deepens east of the country on Sunday, then moves away to the east as a ridge gradually builds over New Zealand.

Forecast: Thursday: Northerly 15 knots. Sea slight. Cloudy periods, with fair visibility in a few showers. Friday: Northerly 15 knots. Sea slight. Cloudy and with a few showers, the showers becoming scattered in the evening, some possible heavy.

Outlook: Outlook until midnight Monday: Saturday: Changing southwest 20 knots early morning, rising to 25 knots for a time in the afternoon. Rain clearing during the morning and becoming fine. Sunday: Westerly 20 knots, changing southerly 20 knots in the afternoon. Morning rain, then isolated showers. Monday: Southerly 20 knots, easing to 15 knots later. Mainy fine.

Swell: Swell forecast to midnight Monday: Northerly 1 metre, rising to 1.5 metres Saturday and to 2 metres Sunday, easing to 1.5 metres Monday.
