Situation: A series of weak troughs affect the country over the next few days, along with a front moving north over the South Island on Friday and North Island on Saturday.A significant low deepens east of the country on Sunday, then moves away to the east as a ridge gradually builds over New Zealand.

Forecast: Thursday: Northeast 15 knots, tending northerly 15 knots this evening. Sea slight. Partly cloudy becoming fine in the afternoon. Friday: Northerly 15 knots, becoming northwest 20 knots for a time in the morning. Changing southeast 20 knots in the afternoon, easing to 15 knots in the evening. Sea becoming moderate in the morning, easing in the evening. Fine in the morning with a few showers developing in the afternoon.

Outlook: Outlook until midnight Monday: Saturday: Southeast rising to 20 knots in the afternoon. Rain at times. Sunday: Southeast 20 knots, rising to southerly 30 knots afternoon. Periods of rain with possibly heavy falls, easing later. Monday: Southerly easing to 15 knots, dying out later. Cloudy periods, with isolated morning showers.
