Situation: A cold front moves off the North Island to the east today and a disturbed southwest flow covers the country. The southwesterlies ease on Thursday, and a ridge of high pressure moves onto the country on Friday.

Forecast: Monday: Variable 5 knots. Northwest 15 knots developing late evening. Sea slight.Mainly fine,but chance evening shower. Tuesday: Changing southwest 25 knots gusting 35 knots early morning, then easing to southwest 20 knots late afternoon. Sea becoming rough in the morning, easing late afternoon. Poor visibility in showers developing in the morning, clearing in the evening.

Outlook: Outlook until midnight Friday: Wednesday: Easing to southwest 10 knots morning. Mainly fine. Thursday: Southwest 10 knots. Mainly fine, chance late shower. Friday: Southwest 10 knots dying out. Partly cloudy.
