North Island

Raukumara to Kaweka ranges: Partly cloudy today, with isolated afternoon and evening showers. Mostly cloudy with showers tomorrow. Egmont and Tongariro National Parks, also the Ruahine and Tararua ranges: Cloudy periods. A few showers developing this evening, becoming confined to the Ruahine and Tararua ranges tomorrow afternoon. WINDS: Westerlies, changing southerly tonight or overnight, gale in exposed places.

Freezing Level: About 2000 metres, lowering to 1200 metres in the south and east by tomorrow evening.

South Island

Fiordland: Partly cloudy. Remaining South Island mountain areas: Showers gradually clearing today, then mainly fine. However, a few showers about Kahurangi National Park tomorrow. WINDS: Southwesterlies, gale at times in exposed places, easing tomorrow.

Freezing Level: About 1600 metres, gradually rising to 2000 metres but 3000 metres in the south tomorrow evening.
