North Island

Tongariro National Park and Ruahine range northwards: Fine apart from areas of morning and evening cloud. However, isolated afternoon and evening showers. Remaining areas: Cloudy periods, patchy drizzle developing tomorrow evening. WINDS: Mainly light, northwesterlies developing about the Tararua range tomorrow afternoon.

Freezing Level: Above 3000 metres.

South Island

Kaikoura ranges and Nelson Lakes National Park: Fine, apart from areas of cloud morning and night. Kahurangi National Park and the Southern Alps: Mainly fine, cloud increasing this evening, showers spreading north tomorrow, turning to rain with some heavy falls south of Mount Cook tomorrow afternoon. Fiordland mountains: Periods of rain, with some heavy falls possible from late this evening. Snow lowering to 1200 metres in the south tomorrow night. WINDS: Northwesterlies strengthening, rising to gale in exposed places tomorrow.

Freezing Level: Above 3200 metres, lowering to 1600 metres in the far south tomorrow might.
