Ruahine and Tararua Forest Parks: A few showers, turning to rain, with heavy falls, tomorrow. Remaining North Island areas: Scattered showers, some heavy. WINDS: Northwesterlies, gale at times about the Tararuas.

Freezing Level: Above 3000 metres.

South Island

Kahurangi to Nelson Lakes National Parks: Cloudy with a few showers. Kaikoura ranges: Fine. But scattered showers from tomorrow afternoon. The Southern Alps: Showers, mainly about and west of the Main Divide, some heavy and thundery. Fiordland: Mostly cloudy with scattered showers, some heavy and possibly thundery. Widespread rain developing tonight, easing to isolated showers tomorrow morning. WINDS: West to northwesterlies, gale in exposed places at times.

Freezing Level: About 3500 metres, sloping to 2600 metres in fiordland. lowering to 1600 metres in fiordland tomorrow evening.
