North Island

Occasional rain, more persistent from the central volcanoes northeastwards with isolated thunderstorms about Raukumara Forest Park tomorrow. Rain clearing from the central volcanoes southwards tomorrow, leaving cloudy periods. A few showers returning to Egmont National Park tomorrow evening. Winds: Northerlies rising to gale in exposed places, changing lighter westerly tomorrow.

Freezing Level: 2000 metres, lifting to 2500 metres tonight.

South Island

Kaikoura ranges, Nelson Lakes and Kahurangi National Parks: Rain tonight and early tomorrow, then fine apart from isolated showers about Kahurangi. Southern Alps and Fiordland: Periods of rain. Snow lowering to 1000 metres. Winds: Northeasterlies rising to gale in exposed places, turning northwesterly overnight, and winds easing except in Fiordland.

Freezing Level: 2000 metres in the north, sloping to 1400 metres in the south. lowering to 1400 metres in the northwest later tomorrow.
